Absolutely beautiful 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL W140 for sale. The quintessential diplomats car. This California car is in beautiful, original condition with a long history of regular servicing at Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills.

The W140 500SEL sedan was a luxury car way ahead of its time with soft close doors, soft-close trunk, reclining rear seat, front and rear seat heaters, rear rear-parking markers/guide rods, double-paned sound-proofed glass and automatic up and down windows all around and even a power, windshield-mounted rear view mirror. They were beautifully finished to the highest standards and drive magnificently.

We recently had the transmission removed, re-sealed and the reverse clutch packs replaced. A common (and expensive) problem on these cars every hundred thousand miles or so. Another problematic area is the front wiring harness which was designed to be biodegradable.

Mercedes-Benz discovered early on that these wiring harnesses were not lasting nearly as long as they had intended them to. The front wiring harness in this car has been replaced along with the ABS unit.

The car starts runs and drives beautifully, it is quiet and shifts perfectly. It has been incredibly well preserved and cared for. The paint and body all look to be original and there is no sign of prior damage, confirmed by the Autocheck report. The chrome wheels have a great luster and look beautiful with no rust or bubbling. The trim, bumpers, and glass all show well.

The interior is in very nice condition and very comfortable. The door panels, Dash, seats, steering wheel, switches, rugs, headliner present beautifully. The air conditioning blows ice cold, original radio is in good working order and the cruise control is in working order. It is in overall very nice condition.

These post-modern collectibles are becoming harder to find in the condition of this one and are surely poised to continue to pick up value as since just a handful of this version were produced. This is a rare classic, low production Mercedes-Benz that anyone would be happy to have in his or her collection and a fantastic car to drive every day. with 118k original miles, this one has only averaged about 4,500 miles per year. Truly a gem.
