Super original 1973 Volkswagen Thing for sale. Unusually well preserved with low, original mileage of just 87,929 miles. As they say, they're only original once! This special Thing was stored indoors for 25+ years and brought out of hibernation just a few years ago.

Having been thoroughly gone through mechanically it is ready to enjoy, hassle-free and what better provenance!

After 14 years in my career and many VW Things passing through my hands, this is a first to see a 45-year-old VW Thing with body, paint, and floors still original and with no rust or filler! The interior is also in excellent shape and the car even sports the original top and side-curtains.

The front seats were recently reupholstered to factory specifications and are very comfortable.

The car is road ready and has been recently tuned, new tires installed, new KYB gas shocks, battery, clutch, ball joints, tie-rod ends, brakes, wheel cylinders and valve adjustment along with a new carburetor, new steering box, and intake boots. It starts; runs and drives great and it's 1600cc motor performs well. The gas heater is present as well.

For anyone with a fond appreciation for low mileage, original and well-preserved cars, this is an outstanding Thing that needs nothing. For an enthusiast looking for one to restore to perfection, you couldn't ask for a better candidate.
