Beautiful 1970 Jaguar E-type for Sale

Very special 1970 Jaguar E-type for sale, built April 7th of 1970 and one of just 8,628 produced between 1968-1971. This beautiful Series II 4.2 Liter OTS XKE is owned by radio icon & Jaguar enthusiast Michael Savage, was performance built and finished in light blue with cream interior and tan cloth soft top. It was recently rebuilt from front to rear just 1,600 miles ago making this one incredible driving Series II XKE that is turn-key and ready to enjoy.

Purchase includes the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, original blue California-issue license plate, a special promotional poster board (shown in the video) along with a personalized, signed copy of Dr. Savage's wonderful best-selling book "Teddy and Me, Confessions of a Service Human" where Mike and Teddy are shown under the bonnet of his beloved Jaguar.

The previous owner built the car for performance using a Jaguar 4,235cc 258.4 cubic inch DOHC Mark X block with a higher 9.5:1 compression ratio squeezing more air and fuel in the cylinder into a much smaller space making them a favorite for racing. Add to that that the e-Type weighs 1,450 lbs less than the Mark X and the difference in power is noticeable, to say the least.

Just 1,600 miles ago the clutch had 20% remaining so Mike took the car to the experts at J&G in Marin and decided to have them rebuild the mechanicals from front to back and ended up spending nearly $30,000 with a new clutch, new exhaust, new cylinder head gaskets, and machining, new rear crank seal and machining, new starter, bottom-end overhaul including new bearings, rods, pistons, etc.

The differential has also been rebuilt, the braking system, and front and rear suspension. It has rebuilt triple SU carburetors, a new water pump, and more. The result is the best driving and handling Series II E-Type that I have ever driven (and I have driven dozens of XKEs throughout my career!)

The exterior presents nicely. This is a "driver quality" car that shows well and looks great with a nice shine, a smooth, older repaint, beautiful trim, chrome, and brightwork along with excellent chrome wire wheels and a well-fitted cloth top and boot cover.

Inside is tidy and welcoming, also refurbished by its previous owner. The seating, panels, dash, and coverings show well and the seating is very comfortable. It has all working gauges and switches and the center switch panel facia was recently replaced. The boot is finished and includes a jack, spare, and a new mat. This is a wonderfully comfortable e-Type making it perfect for those long highway drives in the fast lane.

The Series 2 introduced a number of design changes, the most distinctive exterior feature is the absence of the glass headlight covers, wrap-around rear bumper, larger front indicators, and tail lights re-positioned below the bumpers, and an enlarged grille and twin electric fans to aid cooling.

Additional changes included a steering lock that moved the ignition switch to the steering column, newly styled rocker switches, and a collapsible steering column. New seats allowed the fitment of head restraints. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial "ribbed" appearance.

With this pop-culture icon offering up his special iconic Jaguar, this E-type represents a great opportunity to own a lovely piece of history with an interesting pedigree. Rebuild receipts and records are downloadable here. Be sure to check out all 380+ photos, two additional sets of photos, and the 18-minute video below.
