This striking 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible was built at Pontiac's Fremont, California assembly plant and is accompanied by Pontiac Historic Services documentation confirming it as a genuine GTO convertible. Finished in Cameo Ivory with a red interior and ivory convertible top, it is exceptionally well equipped with air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, console with Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, Rally instrumentation and numerous additional comfort and appearance features. Extensive documentation includes PHS records, replacement owner's manuals, convertible-top manual and numerous records, along with a clear California title.
The performance-built Pontiac 428 V8 starts readily, runs and idles smoothly and delivers plenty of power. Upgrades include Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads and intake, Holley four-barrel carburetion, MSD ignition and performance exhaust components. The Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, while power steering, upgraded four-wheel disc brakes, heavy-duty suspension components and a 3.08 Safe-T-Track rear end provide confident handling and braking. Importantly, the car's original PHS-corresponding YS-code 400/335-horsepower V8 has been retained and is included with the sale.
Its engine-unit stamping corresponds with the abbreviated EUN recorded on the Fremont PHS billing history, and period documentation states that the original engine was rebuilt and retained when the 428 was installed. The original engine is currently located in Stockton, California; the buyer will be responsible for coordinating and paying for its pickup, packaging and shipping.
The Cameo Ivory paint has a deep shine and presents beautifully against the red interior and contrasting convertible top. The glass, chrome, stainless trim, emblems and brightwork show well throughout, and the GTO's hood scoop, dual exhaust and muscular convertible profile give it tremendous presence. 17-inch Hurst-style wheels wrapped in Diamond Back Classics 215/50R17 radial redline tires combine a period-inspired appearance with modern radial construction and show good tread depth. The upgraded disc brakes and red calipers visible through the wheels add a subtle performance appearance while retaining the car's classic character.
The red interior is comfortable, inviting and in very nice condition throughout, with bucket seats, center console and the distinctive Hurst Dual-Gate “His and Hers” shifter. Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power brakes, Rally instrumentation, radio and numerous convenience features. The red upholstery, carpeting, woodgrain dash treatment and bright interior trim complement the Cameo Ivory exterior particularly well, while the power-operated convertible top makes this an especially enjoyable open-air cruiser.
This is a unique opportunity to own a PHS-documented 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible combining genuine GTO pedigree and an unusually attractive factory color combination with significant performance and drivability upgrades. Particularly noteworthy is the inclusion of its original PHS-corresponding 400/335-horsepower engine, which has been preserved while the car is presently powered by a performance-built 428. Offered with extensive documentation, manuals, records, a clear California title and more than 430 detailed photographs, this GTO offers the performance of a thoughtfully upgraded muscle car while retaining an important piece of its original drivetrain and history.
