Beautiful 1960 Triumph TR3A for Sale

Stunning, beautifully rotisserie-restored 1960 Triumph TR3A for sale. This lovely example is finished in Red with a tan interior with leather seating a new cloth top, side curtains, and tonneau cover, and the desirable TR4 overdrive transmission.

This exceptional example underwent a complete, no-expense-spared exhaustive rotisserie restoration between 2009 and 2015 with minimal, gentle use since its completion. Includes a clear, California title, and factory service manual along with a plethora of records documenting its restoration.

The 1,991cc 121.5ci inline-4 starts and runs beautifully with 145-150 psi across all cylinders and plenty of power. It is mated to a rebuilt TR4 synchromesh 4-speed transmission with overdrive (in 3rd & 4th gear) by John Esposito at Quantum Mechanics and the shifting is spot-on. Handling is superb with its fully refreshed suspension including shocks, springs, bushings, tie-rods, and an upgraded Moss Motors steering rack conversion restored braking system with front discs.

Rebuilt carburetors and Pertronix Flame-Thrower Distributor keep the car nicely tuned and reliable. The cooling system has been upgraded with an electric cooling fan. This is truly a fantastic running and driving vintage Triumph!

The exterior is stunning having been treated to a full rotisserie restoration and fully blasted and stripped before refinishing. The paint is smooth and glassy, the body is razor straight with excellent panel alignments all around. The chrome, trim, emblems, grill, lenses, glass, and rubber were all refreshed/replaced. The factory wheels have been fully restored and refinished with new caps and wrapped in 165/80 R15s.

The undercarriage is equally stunning. It was fully refinished and the frame was even blasted and powder coated. It has a high-quality, well-fitted canvas top and matching tonneau cover, and a newer set of side curtains. The top frame was stripped and refinished as well.

The interior was all restored and/or replaced with beautiful seats with new foam and leather, all new cards and panels, carpets, Moto-Lita steering wheel, beautiful bezels, all working restored gauges and hardware throughout. It has working blinkers, heater, lighting, etc. Currently, the wipers are inoperable and the amp meter occasionally needs a 'tap' to register. This is a very comfortable car and looks/feels fantastic.

Triumph TR3A Fun Facts:

The "TR3A" was a minor update from the TR3. The updates included the new wide front grill, exterior door handles, and lockable boot handle and came with a full tool kit as standard (this was an option on the TR3). The total production run of the "TR3A" was 58,236. The TR3A was so successful that the original panel molds eventually wore out and had to be replaced.

In 1959 a slightly modified version came out that had raised stampings under the bonnet and boot hinges and under the door handles, as well as a redesigned rear floor section. In addition, the windscreen was attached with bolts rather than the Dzus connectors used on the early "A" models. It is estimated that only 9,500 of the original 58,000 built survive today.

The Triumph TR3 is the first production car to include standard disc brakes, which were continued on the "TR3A" facelift. The car was known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favorite. The "TR3A", despite being over 65 years old, is still competitive in the E-production class of SCCA (Sports Car Club of America).
