1941 Chevrolet AK Series Pickup for Sale

This handsome 1941 Chevrolet AK Series 1/2-Ton Pickup is offered for sale following an older restoration believed to have been completed approximately 20 years ago. Finished in red with contrasting black fenders and running boards, it features a nicely restored tan-painted cab with a black bench seat, red steel wheels with Chevrolet hubcaps, wide-whitewall tires, and a wood stake-bed rack.

Power comes from a correctly coded 216.5ci overhead-valve inline-six paired with a floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a heater. The truck was purchased from PC Classic Cars in Sherman, Texas, in November 2021 and has since been regularly driven and mechanically maintained in California. It is accompanied by service records and a 1941 Chevrolet Truck Data Book and is offered with a clear California title.

The 216.5-cubic-inch overhead-valve inline-six starts readily, runs and idles smoothly, and delivers plenty of power for the truck. The floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission shifts easily through the gears, while the hydraulic drum brakes stop confidently and the steering and suspension feel tight and responsive. The truck has benefited from ongoing maintenance and mechanical attention under current ownership, including servicing and repairs to the engine, fuel, cooling, ignition and braking systems as needed, with the goal of keeping it dependable and enjoyable to drive. The engine compartment remains nicely presented with period-correct details, including the AC heavy-duty oil-bath air cleaner and AC oil-filter assembly. Overall, it is a well-sorted older restoration that drives comfortably and feels ready to be enjoyed.

The red and black two-tone finish has a deep shine and shows very well, with the contrasting black fenders, running boards and splash aprons giving the truck a particularly sharp period appearance. The glass, chrome, stainless trim, grille, bumpers, lighting and Chevrolet emblems all present nicely, and the split windshield opens and works as designed, allowing fresh air to flow into the cab. Red-painted steel wheels with Chevrolet hubcaps are wrapped in wide-whitewall Firestone tires with good tread depth.

Other exterior details include Chevrolet running-board step plates, dual mirrors, period-style lighting and a beautifully finished wood bed floor with black wear strips. Removable natural-finish wood stake sides complete the look and can easily be sanded and refinished as the new owner wishes. The bed, inner bedsides and tailgate are exceptionally clean and nicely finished, and overall the truck has a very attractive, period-correct appearance without looking overdone.

The tan and brown interior is comfortable, welcoming and in very nice condition throughout. The brown bench seat upholstery presents well with only light signs of use, complemented by tan-painted door panels, dash, cab walls and headliner. The handsome Art Deco-style dashboard retains its period appearance with a large central 100-mph speedometer flanked by temperature, fuel, battery and oil-pressure gauges, while the brown three-spoke steering wheel and Chevrolet horn button complete the look. Black rubber flooring and carpeting are clean and well fitted, and the cab includes a floor-shifted manual transmission, floor-mounted parking brake, glovebox and seat belts. A period-style heater is mounted beneath the passenger side of the dash. All gauges, controls, lighting, heater and other interior equipment are working as they should.

This is a unique opportunity to own a nicely restored and exceptionally well-maintained 1941 Chevrolet AK Series pickup that is as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at. Considerable care has gone into keeping it mechanically sorted, dependable and genuinely usable. With its classic prewar Chevrolet styling, beautifully finished wood bed, period details and excellent drivability, this is a vintage pickup that is ready to be driven, shown and enjoyed.
