1956 Jaguar XK140 SE for sale from Left Coast Classics

This stunning 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE for sale is one of the 1950's most iconic motor cars; the Jaguar XK series have always had a strong following. XK 140s offer more leg room and more power than their predecessor, the XK 120.

With a growing numbers of shows, clubs, and events catering to these cars, and a larger baby boomer audience available to appreciate them, these high-style motor cars continue to be in great demand.

This is a particularly attractive example and was sold new with the special equipment (SE) package. Built on March 6th, 1956 and shipped to the US on March 16th, this example has been Stateside all its life. The car has seen a fairly recent repaint in white, and the interior has been freshly re-trimmed in red leather with white accents. The restoration work, done around 2003 by Jeff Snyder of Jeff's Resurrections, earned this example a Regional Championship in the JCNA D-01 Driven Division in 2003, and Overall D-01 North American Concours Championships in 2004 and 2005.

The body is relatively straight and solid with reasonably good bonnet fit, while the door and trunk alignment shows moderate fit irregularities in some places. The paint work was a very high caliber job and shows extremely well with virtually no chips or scratches. The chrome work-inside and out-is extremely good with just very minimal hazing from polishing and no weathering or pitting.

The wire wheels are in outstanding condition. The windshield, side marker lights, head light, and tail light lenses have all been replaced as part of the restoration and look new. A new tan canvas top with restored side curtains has been fitted over a restored top frame.

The seating and dash are finished in high quality leather with matching wool carpets and the door panels are done in vinyl. The original Smiths gauges have been restored.

The car is in very good working, mechanical order. It starts easily, sounds strong and has excellent power. The transmission and clutch both operate as they were intended. The brakes are excellent and stop the car with ease. The suspension feels tight and the car tracks straight at highway speeds. The compression readings are even across all 6 cylinders, the car is in excellent overall mechanical shape.

The underside is predominantly original, and shows evidence of rust repairs in selected areas, as is commonly the case with these cars. It is possible that damage repairs were done to the panel below the trunk, while the front appears to have always remained straight and damage free.

With the car comes an operator's manual, a $1,600 replacement tool roll from Welch Enterprises, restored side curtains, original tonneau cover, and spare tire.

In short, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a beautiful and highly decorated JNCA car which is eligible for numerous historic events and is representative of Jaguars trend setting style of the 1950s.
